Sustainable independent businesses are taking Cardiff by storm – and Illustrate is no exception.
Created by Toby Brunson and James Katz, Illustrate is a global art collective with the goal to bring together art, clothing and sustainability.
All products are vegan and they have committed to only selling products that are 100% cotton.
Each product aims to have positive impact on the planet. For example, 10% of all profits from their water bottles goes to Frank Water, a charity committed to provide clean water to global communities who have limited access.
Ultimately, Illustrate’s mission is to inspire others to make a change.
“We’re a sustainable independent business and we specialise in doing things like apparel, prints,” said Katherine Craig, Social Media Manager. “But ultimately, we’re a global collective, which means that our artists come from all over the world.”
“It’s all about quality. People buy our clothes, and they know they’ll last.”
“The arcades help position Cardiff as a city of culture – and the beautiful architecture of the Morgan Arcade is a perfect fit for the aesthetic of the business.” says Katherine.
“I’d say a huge selling point of Cardiff is that we have these arcades and I think it makes it feel a little bit more like a like an arty, indie city.
“I would mainly say that you know where your clothes are coming from, who’s made them, it also about keeping your carbon footprint as small as possible.”
