14th November - Light of Winter launch

Be the first to experience ‘The Light of Winter’ - a brand new immersive light trail brought to you by FOR Cardiff and Christmas at Bute Park. Music and street entertainment from 5pm.

  • To celebrate the launch of the Light of Winter trail on Thursday 14th November, there will be roaming street performances throughout the city centre.

    Here’s where you’ll find them:

    • Light Gliders - The Hayes

    • Ice Prince and Princess - High Street

  • To celebrate the launch of the Light of Winter trail on Thursday 14th November, there will be live musical performances throughout the city centre.

  • Visit the Churchill Way dock-feeder on 14/11/2024, 5pm-6pm for the Inaugrual Kids Christmas Lights Switch On.

  • 5pm - 7.30pm on 14/11/2024.

    A private tasting running through the basics of Sherry, how it's made and how to drink it. This will include a tasting of 6 different Sherries and a custom cheeseboard featuring 6 cheeses, each will be paired to each Sherry accordingly.

15th November - Cardiff After Dark

Experience Cardiff Market at night and enjoy exclusive events in shops, bars, and restaurants.

  • Cardiff Central Market will be opening late on 15/11/2024 as part of the City of Arcades celebrations. Great music and tasty street food will be on offer along with some retail stalls.

  • Have you ever wanted to inspire your own story?

    Follow the sound of clacking keys in Cardiff Market and you'll find Adam with his typewriter in Stall 30. Give him three words, the name for a character and he'll type you the story while you wait. Each story is a single side of A5 (roughly 400 words) and takes around 5 minutes. Wonderful gifts for children, adults, friends, family or for yourself.

    Stories are typed on a Pay What You Feel basis.

  • 8pm-10pm on 15/11/2024.

    A one-off, after-hours chocolate bar workshop at Mrs Potts. You will get an introduction to chocolate and get to make and decorate four of your very own Mrs Potts chocolate bars by hand. While your bars are setting, you will get to enjoy a selection of brownies and cookies. Once set, you will get to package up your chocolate bars which make for an extra special souvenir.

    This is a ticketed event priced at £35 per person. Price is fully refundable up to 48hrs prior to the function. 

    Please notify Mrs Potts of any allergies when booking your space. Maximum workshop size is 12 participants and children are to be accompanied by an adult. Please bring your booking confirmation with you.

    Join Wild Rhythm for an interactive night walk in Bute Park where you will explore and engage with the sounds of nature after dark. As you take a stroll through the park, you will engage in mindful activities designed to awaken your senses and deepen your appreciation of the natural world around you.

    To end the evening, the wellness social will continue at Cardiff Market, where the food vendors have agreed to stay open late. This is a great opportunity to help appreciate and support local independent businesses.

    There’s a hidden world that’s waiting to be shared. From entrance to exit - follow old stories, dig deeper into the history of Morgan Quarter, and discover what makes the arcades special through a bespoke, history tour that takes you back in time.

    Meeting at the John Batchelor Statue outside Tkmaxx on the Hayes. The Tour will last approx. 45 minutes. Please wear appropriate footwear. Due to the age of the building and not in the public domain unfortunately there is no Wheelchair access.
