City of Arcades 2025 is a vibrant experiential and digital celebration marking 70 years since Cardiff became the capital of Wales. Over 70 exciting days, from the 5th September to the 14th November, the city will come alive with events, activities, special offers, and fun for all ages.
The celebration is built around five fortnightly themes — Foodie, Discovery, Arts & Music, History, and Health & Beauty — each shining a spotlight on the very best of what Cardiff has to offer.
From bustling food markets and creative upcycling workshops to bread baking sessions and a fascinating time travellers trail, there’s something for everyone to explore, enjoy, and be part of.

Wellness Evening at Sweaty Betty

Time Traveller’s Arcade Trail
Experience 70 years of Cardiff’s history with our Time Traveller’s Arcade Trail!
Step into the past with our interactive Time Traveller’s Arcade Trail, a free family-friendly adventure through Cardiff’s historic arcades and St David’s Dewi Sant.
Over eight themed zones, each styled around a different decade from 1950’s to today, visitors can meet costumed characters, and collect a stamp in every zone to become an official City of Arcades Time Traveller! End at Castle Arcade and share your fully stamped Time Traveller Ticket to collect a certificate and be entered into our prize draw to win a digital FOR Cardiff gift card worth £200.
What’s on?
From 10am to 4pm, students from the University of South Wales will perform in costume across the arcades, entertaining visitors as part of a special coursework module inspired by the Time Traveller’s Trail.
At 11am in Dominions Arcade, visitors can enjoy a deep dive into Cardiff’s history as a Capital City, exploring the moment Cardiff was officially declared the nation’s capital in 1955.
Throughout the day, visitors can sign the “Declaration of Independents” at Dominions Arcade, celebrating Cardiff’s thriving independent businesses.
At 1pm, a the Cardiff Arms Park Male Choir will perform classic anthems in Wyndham Arcade, bringing music and atmosphere to the heart of the city.
High Street Arcade will host a TARDIS, honouring Cardiff’s connection to the world-famous time-traveller, the Doctor.
St David’s Dewi Sant will celebrate in true ‘80s style – inviting trail participants to raid the props box, strike a pose, and show off their best retro outfits. Find this upstairs opposite Starbucks.

Experience live actors, photo opportunities, a local choir, themed props, and even an official Doctor Who TARDIS!

Morgan Quarter Historic Tours
A history tour with a twist. Experience the weird, wonderful, and unique quirks of what once was.

From entrance to exit - follow old stories, dig deeper into the history of Morgan Quarter, and discover what makes the arcades special through a bespoke, history tour that takes you back in time.
The Tour will last approx. 45 minutes and is free to attend.

WILSON NOIR DJ RESIDENCY
Step into the pulse of the city as WILSON NOIR & guests take over for a two-day residency at the Cardiff Music City Festival. Expect stretched-out beats and melodic loops that blend into a rich, signature soundscape deep within Castle Arcade.

Overseas Apparel Jazz Night
Join us on October 11th for an unforgettable evening as Overseas Apparel hosts its next monthly event – a soulful jazz night with a creative twist. Teaming up with Plant and Pot, who will transform the space with a stunning plant installation and display, setting the perfect atmosphere for the evening.
As always, expect great music, good vibes, and plenty of flavour – with food and drinks available (vendor to be announced soon).
The monthly events have been running for over five years, bringing together talented musicians, DJs, independent food vendors, and businesses from across Cardiff and South Wales. More than just a night out, they’re a chance to discover something new, connect with like-minded people, and be part of a thriving community in Cardiff’s oldest arcade.

Castle Quarter Art Trail
Step into discovery this September with the Castle Quarter Art Trail, a stunning celebration of creativity and culture running throughout Duke Street Arcade, Castle Arcade and High Street Arcade.
From 19 September - 2 October, visitors can explore a series of bespoke window murals, each designed in collaboration with individual retailers to tell its own unique story. Every piece is crafted with jewel-like detail, transforming the arcades into a gallery of hidden treasures waiting to be uncovered.
Whether you’re discovering the arcades for the first time or seeing them through fresh eyes, this visual journey is not to be missed.
Loving Welsh Food Tour
Get a true taste of Cardiff on the Loving Welsh Food City of Arcades Food Experience. Join fellow foodies on a leisurely stroll around Cardiff city centre passing through the historic arcades and by iconic landmarks such as Cardiff Castle and the Principality Stadium. Your friendly guide will introduce you to local and international cuisine at Cardiff cafes, bars, and restaurants including:

We’re kicking off 70 days of celebrations with a mouth watering Foodie Market in the heart of Cardiff Market. For one night only, the historic market will be buzzing with incredible local flavours, live music and late-night shopping.
Tuck into cheesy goodness from Dirty Gnocchi’s famous pasta wheel, authentic slices from Ffwrnes Pizza, Japanese street food from Tokyo Nights and comforting Polish dumplings from Pierogi, plus plenty more tempting stalls to discover.
